What is WiFi 6? How WiFi 6 Is About To Change The Face Of Internet.

No doubt WiFi is about to get faster and that is great news. As we all know faster internet is nowadays very demanding. We are consuming a very large amount of bandwidthdemanding games, apps, and videos with our smartphones and laptops. But, the next generation of WiFi will be change everything forever. It will be not just about simple speed. It will be going to impact us in many ways. It is WiFi 6

For those who do not know WiFi which stands for, “Wireless Fidelity” will be soon updated into 802.11ax, also known as “WiFi 6”. It is for those devices which include the new standards.

The Great news is it will be soon going to launch in this year. So, let’s look at how it will be beneficial for all of us.

What is WiFi 6?

WiFi 6 is the latest of the wifi standards which will provide a host of speed, security, and connectivity improvements. It still does the basic things just with some more additional features that will benefit us in various ways. The current wifi that we are using is 802.11ac. And the upcoming will be 802.11ax, which is WiFi 6, future standards.

How fast it will be?

It is been predicting by technicians that speed will be 9.6 Gbps that’s up from 3.5 Gbps on Wi-Fi 5.

But unluckily both of these speeds are theoretical and are not possible to be achieved. But if somehow we achieve them it is still not clear that we will need them.

A major advantage of WiFi 6 will be not increasing the speed of the devices, but to increase the network. WiFi 6 will increase the network when a group of devices will be connected to it.

What will be other advantages?

The advantages that we will be going to witness from WiFi 6 will be:

  • Higher rates of data
  • Increasing capacity
  • Better performance in environments with many connected devices
  • Improvement in power efficiency
  • Spectrum Usage Improvement

Whats make WiFi 6 faster than any other standard?

The real reason behind its speed is the usage of two technologies, that is,
MU-MIMO and OFDMA.

  1. MU-MINO

Multi-User Multiple Input, Multiple Output or MU-MINO is the technology which allows the wifi to connect to various sources all at once. Before this WiFi was only used to connect to one device. This creates a problem because in that interval of time other devices have to wait for the connectivity. This whole process was very time-consuming. Since. the switching time is in microseconds, users did not notice the gap. But, it is possible when atleast 2 devices are connected. As the number of devices starts increasing in the access point delayed is being noticed.

Right now, MU-MIMO allows routers to connect to at least four devices at a time. But, Wi-Fi 6 will allow devices to communicate with up to eight.

2. OFDMA

OFDMA stands for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access. It is a technology which is used to teleport one transmission to multiple devices at the same time. Till now, the WiFi standard which is the 802.11ac or WiFi 5 was using OFDM technology which was using individual channels to carry data designated for specific client devices. The problem with this approach is that it results in wasted capacity.

Now with the new OFDMA technology, the data channel is chopped up. This will work in such a way that data from different devices can be bundled together to ensure that no bandwidth is wasted.

Where to get WiFi 6?

To get WiFi 6 it is important to buy new smartphones, laptops. Because it relies on not just on new software but also on new hardware. It is not something to get it you have to buy new laptops or smartphones. Instead, new devices will come with WiFi 6 by defaults. As you replace your phone, laptop, and game consoles over the next five years, you’ll bring home new ones that include the latest version of Wi-Fi.

One important thing that should be kept in mind. That is your router does not support WiFi 6 then it will not show any benefits. In order to get WiFi 6 router is required no matter how many WiFi 6 devices you have.
